TOIMINTAOHJEET: OPPITUNTIEN PERUMINEN
Tilanteet, joissa oppitunnit perutaan
- Oppituntien aikana Suomi-koulun alueella on voimassaoleva säävaroitus (weather warning) tai muu painava syy, kuten kansallinen hätätila.
Päätöksenteko
- Oppituntien perumisesta päättää Suomi-koulun puheenjohtaja.
- Puheenjohtaja päättää oppituntien perumisesta koulupäivänä klo 9.30 mennessä.
Oppilaille ilmoittaminen
- Puheenjohtaja ilmoittaa oppituntien perumisesta hallitukselle ja opettajille Suomi-koulun johtokunnan sähköpostilistalla.
- Tiedotuspäällikkö tiedottaa oppituntien perumisesta Suomi-koulun kotisivuilla sekä lähettää ilmoituksen oppilaille Suomi-koulun sähköpostilistalla koulupäivänä klo 10 mennessä.
- Opettajat ilmoittavat tarvittaessa puhelimitse oppilailleen oppituntien perumisesta koulupäivänä klo 10 mennessä. Oppilaat tai heidän vanhempansa sopivat lukukauden alussa ryhmänsä opettajan kanssa tavasta, jolla oppilas saa tiedon, mikali tiedotuspäällikön sähköposti ja tieto koulun kotisivuilla eivat riitä.
Peruttujen oppituntien korvaaminen
- Suomi-koulun hallitus päättää, miten perutut oppitunnit korvataan.
- Vaihtoehdot peruttujen oppituntien korvaamiseen tärkeysjärjestyksessä:
- Oppitunnit jaetaan pidettäväksi kahtena seuraavana Suomi-koulukertana ylimääräisenä oppituntina. Kahdella seuraavalla kerralla pidetään normaalien oppituntien lisäksi ylimääräinen 50 minuutin oppitunti (klo 16.10-17.00).
- Molemmat oppitunnit pidetään ennen lukukauden päätösjuhlaa.
- Oppitunnit pidetään seuraavana mahdollisena sunnuntaina.
- Jos mitään näistä vaihtoehdoista ei voida kohtuudella toteuttaa, peruttuja oppitunteja ei korvata.
Toimintaohjeista tiedottaminen
- Toimintaohjeet jaetaan jokaiselle oppilaalle tai heidän vanhemmilleen lukukauden alussa.
- Tiedotuspäällikkö laittaa toimintaohjeet Denverin Suomi-koulun kotisivuille, Suomi-koulun ja Suomi-koulun johtokunnan Yahoo-ryhmän tiedostoihin.

CANCELLATION PROCEDURES
Events when lessons will be cancelled
- Lessons will cancelled if a winter weather warning has been declared for Jefferson County area where the school is held. Lessons can also be cancelled due to a national emergency.
Decision about cancellation
- The president of the Finnish School of Denver will make a decision about school cancellation.
- President will make decision to cancel by 9.30 am on the school day.
Notifying students
- Cancellation notice will be pblished on School’s web site and by e-mailing students using mailing list at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/denverinsuomikoulu/ by 10 am of the school day.
- If needed teachers will notify students by phone on cancelled school day by 10 am. In the beginning of the semester students will agree with their teachers on a method of informing students if both the e-mail and website notifications are not sufficient.
Rescheduling of cancelled lessons
- The board will decide how and if the lessons are to be rescheduled.
- Options for making up the cancelled lessons in the order of desirability:
1. Cancelled lessons will be held during the next two school days by adding an extra lesson of 50 minutes to each school day. Extra lesson will be held from 4.10 pm to 5 pm.
2.Both lessons will be made immediately before the celebration on last school day of the semester.
3.Lessons will be held on the next Sunday when the both the building and teachers are available.
4.If none of the above is reasonable then the lessons will not be made up.
Procedure notification
- Procedures for lesson cancellation will be given to each student or his/her parent at the beginning of each semester.
- Communications manager will post procedures on the school’s website and in the files folder of both the student and board yahoo-groups.
